Brighton 3-0 Liverpool: Solly March on fire as Seagulls move up to 7th

Liverpool were stunned 3-0 by Brighton at the Amex Stadium, handing them their second consecutive Premier League defeat of 2023.

The Seagulls were exceptional during the game, and a brace from Solly March helped seal the win and three vital points at home. Jurgen Klopp lamented the display from his team and went as far as to say that he can’t remember a worse performance.

Brighton stun Liverpool as their brilliant form continues

Following the World Cup, no team in Europe has been able to score as many goals as Brighton have. And this only goes to show how fluid their attacking prowess has been. In spite of losing Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi has come in and has managed to continue their remarkable run of form this season.

March had seemingly earned a penalty during the initial phase of the game, only for VAR to rule it out for offside in the build-up. However, he would open the scoring minutes into the second half, striking the ball into the back of the net from Mitoma’s miskick.

And shortly after, he had scored for a second time with a sublime finish to beat Alisson. Brighton had gained full control of the game at that point, while Liverpool seemed extremely lacklustre. They offered nothing in the second half, and were completely outplayed by the hosts.

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to produce a brilliant piece of skill, before making it 3-0 in favour of the Seagulls. They enjoyed the majority of possession during the game, and were able to threaten throughout the game to earn a deserved win.

Brighton have moved ahead of Liverpool in the points table, and are now seventh with 30 points to their name. Liverpool, on the other hand, are ninth with 28 and are under huge pressure.
