Brentford have confirmed the transfer of Ji-soo Kim on a permanent deal. The centre-back has signed a four-year deal until 2027 as confirmed by the Bees on their official site.
Kim became a highly sought after defender after his performances in the U-20 World Cup, where he also made the best XI for the tournament. The Korean will train with Brentford’s B-team this week before linking up with the first team later on when they return from vacation.
The transfer fee involved is only around €640,000 according to Transfermarkt, which could prove to be an incredible investment later on if he breaks into the first team.Â
Who is Brentford’s new signing Ji-soo Kim?Â
The South Korean came through Seongnam’s academy, and also made the K League All-Star team in 2022 after his remarkable performances in 21/22. The K League All-Star team faced Tottenham in front of over 60,000 fans, and he has now decided to move to London to take the next step in his career.Â
Ji-soo Kim stands at an impressive 1.92 metres of height, and at 18, has a lot of room to develop. But considering Thomas Frank’s tendency to trust young talent, he could be given opportunities with the senior team if he impresses at the youth level.
