BREAKING: Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City at the end of this season

Sergio Aguero will leave the club after 10 years at the end of this season. Manchester City has confirmed yesterday that the Argentine will leave the club once the current season is over. The club issued a statement which read, ‘Manchester City will bid a fond and emotional farewell to legendary striker Sergio AgĂ¼ero when his contract expires this summer.’

Sergio Aguero joined Manchester City n 2011 from Atletico Madrid. He has made 384 appearances for the club and 257 goals for them. He is the highest goal-scorer of the club’s history. He is the 4th highest goal-scorer of the Premier League with 181 goals after Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208), and Andy Cole (187).

Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the owner of Manchester City said, “Sergio’s contribution to Manchester City over the last 10 years cannot be overstated. His legend will be indelibly etched into the memories of everyone who loves the Club and maybe even in those who simply love football.”

“This is not yet the moment for farewell words and speeches. There is still much to achieve in the remainder of the time we have with Sergio, and we look forward to his contributions to the challenges which lay ahead.”

“In the meantime, it gives me great pleasure to announce that we will be commissioning an artist to create a statue of Sergio to live at the Etihad Stadium alongside the ones under construction for Vincent and David. And we look forward to the opportunity to bid Sergio a fitting farewell at the end of the season.”

However, Manchester City is planning to pay tribute to the Argentine with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium alongside statues currently in progress for Vincent Kompany and David Silva.
