BREAKING: IPL 2021 has been suspended indefinitely due to the rising COVID-19 cases

IPL 2021 was at a warning state as the games were getting postponed on a regular basis, and many players and staffs have tested positive for COVID-19. There had been appeals as well to cancel the IPL 2021 tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad became the third team after Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings to be affected by the COVID-19 virus. SRH vs MI, RR vs CSK and SRH vs CSK matches were set to be postponed after COVID-19 scare.

Now, it has been made official that the IPL 2021 tournament has been suspended indefinitely. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told ANI about the indefinite suspension of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The suspension of IPL 2021 was also confirmed by IPL chairman Brijesh Patel, who said the decision was taken for the safety of all stakeholders.

This decision comes while India’s struggles to cope with the COVID-19 second wave as positive cases soared past 20 million and deaths approached 220,000.

Various reports now suggest that the IPL organisers are now working out to find a safe way for the overseas players to return to their own countries.

The IPL 2021 can be resumed at a later stage if the country overcomes the COVID-19 scare, but if the situation worsens, then this IPL season stands on the verge of cancellation.
