The Astraverse is waking up again, and this time it’s not just fan speculation — it’s confirmed prep and scripting in motion. Pinkvilla has exclusively learned that **Ranbir Kapoor** will start shooting **Brahmastra 2** in **April 2027**, right after wrapping Nitesh Tiwari’s *Ramayana Part 2*. And the sequel isn’t just bringing back familiar faces — it might be adding a major new one too.

## What We Know So Far on Brahmastra 2?

| Detail | Update |
| --- | --- |
| Lead actor | Ranbir Kapoor (dual role: Dev & Shiva) |
| Returning cast | Alia Bhatt as Isha |
| Possible new addition | Deepika Padukone (in talks for role of Amruta) |
| Shooting start | April 2027 |
| Prior commitment | Ramayana Part 2 (wraps January 2027) |
| Production banner | Jio Studios |
| Status of Dhoom 4 | On hold, deprioritized |

## Ranbir’s Double Duty in the Sequel

According to sources, Ranbir will reprise his roles as both Dev and Shiva, taking on a demanding dual-character arc as the franchise expands its mythological scope. Alia Bhatt returns as Isha, keeping the emotional core of the original intact.

## Deepika Padukone Could Join the Astraverse

The most intriguing update: director Ayan Mukerji is reportedly in talks with Deepika Padukone for the role of Amruta, a character the team feels needs an actor with serious screen presence. Nothing’s locked yet — it all depends on scheduling — but if it comes together, it’ll be one of the year’s biggest casting reveals in Hindi cinema.

## Why the Timeline Makes Sense

Ranbir’s plate is famously full, but this sequencing gives him breathing room: finish Ramayana Part 2 by January 2027, take a short prep break, then dive into Brahmastra 2 by April. Meanwhile, Dhoom 4 has taken a backseat, confirming where his priorities currently lie.
