FC Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba is in the last year of his contract with the club. He may leave the club in January or at the end of the season for free as he refused to extend his contract with the European champions.

The 28-year-old defender is on the target list of multiple big clubs. Both Manchester City and Manchester United have made a formal contract with the Austrian for a potential move.

Manchester City has a left-back crisis recently and Pep Guardiola is forced to play Portuguese right-back Joao Cancelo in his weaker side. David Alaba can be an exciting addition to the squad as he can provide a boost in the left side of the defense.

On the other hand, Manchester United was looking for a left-footed Central back for a long time. David Alaba has played on the left side of the central back pair in the absence of some key defenders. His performance was excellent as a centre back and became a key part of FC Bayern Munich on the road to win the treble last season.

As Luke Shaw and Alex Telles are in a healthy fight for the left-back position, the left central-back position is the suitable position for the Alaba at Old Trafford.

David Alaba has played 404 games for the German giant and scored 32 goals for the club. He has won 9 Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich. He was also a part of the treble-winning squad both in the 2012-13 and 2019-20 seasons.
