Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Niklas Sule for a free transfer in the summer. The German international will be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, after it was revealed that he won’t be renewing his contract any further.

Despite being linked to Chelsea and Newcastle United in the Premier League, Dortmund have won the race for the centre-back. According to reports, the player was very keen on joining the black and yellow club and staying in the Bundesliga. And Dortmund have now confirmed his arrival in the summer.

Niklas Sule to stay in the Bundesliga with Dortmund move lined up

It is usually Bayern Munich that sign top talent from Borussia Dortmund, and not the other way round. But with the move, they have sealed the arrival of one of their best defenders for no transfer fee.

Niklas Sule has been at Bayern Munich for the last five years, after joining them from Hoffenheim in 2017. After a couple of great seasons with them, he struggled with injuries and is now starting to get back to his best.

The defender is currently still a member of FC Bayern Munich and will join Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires in the Summer of 2022.

He has earned 37 caps for the German national team, and will be joining Dortmund at a very important time. The team is struggling with their defence this season, and things have not changed despite signing Gregor Kobel to replace Roman Burki.

The arrival of the 26-year-old on a five-year deal will likely boost the quality of the defense that the team has, for the years to come.
