Five weeks in, and [Border 2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Border_2) is still holding its ground at the Indian box office — though just barely. The Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty starrer collected Rs 25 lakh on its 5th Monday (Day 36), marking a 60% drop from the preceding Sunday. It’s the classic tail-end trickle of a film that has already made its mark on Bollywood’s 2026 calendar.

The film’s total 5th week cume after 4 days stands at Rs 1.65 crore, with projections suggesting a 5th week finish of around Rs 2.50 crore. With that, the film’s theatrical run is expected to wind down between **Rs 306 crore and Rs 308 crore nett** — making it the **first Hit of Hindi cinema in 2026**.

## What the Numbers Really Mean

Let’s be real — trade expectations were sky-high for Border 2, largely off the back of Gadar 2’s massive success. The sequel arrived with enormous buzz and a stellar multi-star cast, but the final numbers, while genuinely good, fell short of the blockbuster dream. The film performed strongly in northern circuits, with Rajasthan close to BLOCKBUSTER status and Delhi-UP and East Punjab delivering SUPER HIT numbers. However, central circuits like Gujarat and CPCI — markets you’d typically expect to fire up for a Sunny Deol patriotic drama — underperformed.

Despite all that, context matters. Border 2 is now Sunny Deol’s second-highest grossing film ever, and the career-best performance for Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. That’s nothing to dismiss.
