Edinson Cavani could be on his way to Boca Juniors in the coming days. The Uruguayan is a free agent, and is looking for a new club after leaving [Manchester United](https://technosports.co.in/2022/08/04/erik-ten-hag-speaks-out-on-players-l/) upon the expiry of his contract.

The player spent two seasons at Old Trafford, and refused to renew his contract beyond the second year due to limited chances and injuries. He has been linked with Villarreal as well, but Boca Juniors seems to be the preferred destination for the striker.

The Uruguayan has spoken about contact he has had with the Boca Juniors vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme.

“There was contact with Roman,” [said Edinson Cavani](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cavani-next-club-manutd-transfers-27676948). “He even wrote to me, and we communicated. These are things that happen in the football environment, among colleagues.

“And, as I mentioned, it’s a great club in South America. How, as a football player, could I say that I wouldn’t want to play for a team like Boca one day? It’s like I said to you, how can I say that I wouldn’t like to play in big clubs, like some in Brazil?”

After positive conversations, it seems only a matter of time before the proposed 18-month contract is signed by Cavani as he heads into the final stages of an illustrious career.
