The chip shortage has been there for quite some time now, from silicon giants like AMD, NVIDIA have already felt it and even auto carmakers like BMW, Tesla, General Motors everyone has experienced it.

As per the latest Reuter’s report, BMW CEO expects supply chains to remain tight even in 2022 as well, Chief Executive Oliver Zipse said on Monday.

“I expect that the general tightness of the supply chains will continue in the next 6 to 12 months,” he said at the IAA Munich car show.

Zipse is much like other car executives from various automakers who is battling lower production due to a lack of semiconductors. He also added that he saw no issues in the long-term, adding that the automotive industry was an attractive client for chipmakers.

The more use of semiconductor in automotive or electric cars these days have made them more dependent on chip industry, so obviously any chip shortage will hit the entire world including manufacturing in the coming days.

As per expectations and rumours, the ongoing demand vs supply will not resolve until and unless the level of manufacturing goes higher. Idealistically, this might take one or two, even more, years to totally get the balance right between the demand and supply which got affected, thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide.
