Keira Knightley takes on a dynamic action role in Black Doves, a Netflix thriller whose official trailer debuted on Wednesday. Set to release on December 5, the series represents a major change of pace from Knightley’s previous period-drama turns in Atonement and Pride and Prejudice. To Elizabeth Webb, a plotting Navy lady agent Kate Knightley who spins her into the depths of espionage, bullets and punches screaming revenge rampage for her dead lover under suspicion-doomed lovers ruining Williams’ intricate underground worlds filled with gunplay and intrigue.

Upcoming Movie on Netflix: Black Doves

In a striking moment from the trailer, Webb warns, “If you try to stop me, I will kill you myself.” Her character has been passing her husband’s confidential political information to a clandestine organization known as the Black Doves. When her spymaster (Sarah Lancashire) learns of her lover’s assassination, she recruits an old ally (Ben Whishaw) to investigate, uncovering a vast conspiracy that links London’s underworld to an impending geopolitical crisis.

The story is set during a Christmas in London and will see Webb and Young deal with their past decisions when old secrets are uncovered. Black Doves, from Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), will be created by and written by the show-runner also set to executive produce with a cast that stars Luther Ford Tracey Ullman Kathryn Hunter Omari Douglas Knightley is attached to executive produce alongside Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry with Harry Munday producing.

Directors Alex Gabassi (The Crown) and Lisa Gunning (The Power) bring the story to life with a cinematic style. The trailer highlights new music by British singer Raye, who delivers a haunting cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” which will feature throughout the season. Netflix has already ordered a second season of the thrilling espionage series, hinting at further intrigue and action for Knightley’s character in Black Doves.
