The man of the match in the finals of ISL-7, Bipin Singh has signed a new contract with Mumbai City FC that will keep him at the club for four more years, until 2025.
A source close to the club confirmed and said, “It’s a very good contract and Bipin is happy about it.” On the other hand, “the club feels fortunate that they reacted in time before anyone else could approach Bipin,” he added.
The player went on to become the most successful left-winger in the seventh season of ISL, scoring 5 and assisting 4 in 19 appearances for Mumbai City FC across the season. The last of the five goals was his winner for the Islanders in the finals against ATK Mohun Bagan, which sealed the domestic double for the Sky Blues.
Approaching the end of his previous contract, it was obvious that clubs across the division would be looking at the player as a potential arrival. However, Mumbai City FC recognised the threat to the future of their asset and acted quickly to tie down the player to a long term contract with the club.
His value has increased even more after the final now that he has been called up to the Indian national team, and at 26, is entering the prime years of his career as a footballer. Moreover, he was the only player across the campaign to score a hat-trick and formerly playing for ATK, is now a bonafide star at Mumbai.
