Dan Levy is back on TV — and this time he’s bringing organized crime, sibling chaos, and Laurie Metcalf playing his mother. *Big Mistakes*, his first original scripted series since the Emmy-sweeping *Schitt’s Creek*, officially lands on Netflix on **April 9, 2026**. If you haven’t been tracking this one, now’s the time to start.

## What Is *Big Mistakes* About?

Co-created by Levy and *Bottoms* breakout Rachel Sennott, *Big Mistakes* centers on two deeply incapable siblings who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime [Netflix Tudum](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/man-on-fire-teaser-trailer-yahya-abdul-mateen) — a premise that perfectly blends Levy’s signature dysfunctional family warmth with genuinely high-stakes chaos.

Levy shared his excitement when the show was first announced: “I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.'” [Netflix Tudum](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/man-on-fire-teaser-trailer-yahya-abdul-mateen)

## Why *Big Mistakes* Could Be Netflix’s Funniest Show of 2026

*Big Mistakes* is the first show produced under Levy’s overall deal with Netflix through his production company, Not a Real Production Company. [Netflix Tudum](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/man-on-fire-teaser-trailer-yahya-abdul-mateen) With Rachel Sennott — one of the sharpest comedy voices of her generation — co-creating alongside him, and a cast loaded with television veterans, the ingredients for a genuine hit are all there.

The [comedy series](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedy_series) format gives them 8 full episodes to let this chaotic family breathe — something Levy has always done best. Mark your calendars.
