The wait is almost over. Dan Levy — the man who gave us David Rose and one of the most beloved sitcoms of the last decade — is returning to television with something completely different. *Big Mistakes* hits Netflix on April 9, 2026, and everything about it screams must-watch.

## What Is Big Mistakes About?

Co-created by Dan Levy and *Bottoms* breakout Rachel Sennott, *Big Mistakes* centres on two deeply incapable siblings who are blackmailed into the world of organised crime [Apple TV](https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/reminders-of-him/umc.cmc.7g6ucj1qldpwtjldhtofyp4w5) — blending Levy’s signature dysfunctional family chaos with high-stakes criminal hijinks. Think warm hearts, terrible decisions, and a very alarmed mother.

Levy shared at announcement that Taylor Ortega “is going to become a household name” and that it had been his life’s mission to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ [Apple TV](https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/reminders-of-him/umc.cmc.7g6ucj1qldpwtjldhtofyp4w5) Safe to say he’s invested.

## The Cast — Why It Matters

Dan Levy plays one of the two sibling leads alongside newcomer Taylor Ortega, while Emmy and Tony Award-winning veteran Laurie Metcalf portrays their mother.

Metcalf is one of TV’s most decorated character actresses — best known globally as Mary Cooper in *The Big Bang Theory* and Jackie Harris across 352 episodes of *Roseanne* and *The Conners*. Having her as the family anchor in a crime comedy is genuinely inspired casting.

The extended cast includes Elizabeth Perkins (*Weeds*, *Sharp Objects*) and Mark Ivanir (*Emilia Pérez*, *Zero Day*) in recurring roles [Apple TV](https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/reminders-of-him/umc.cmc.7g6ucj1qldpwtjldhtofyp4w5), rounding out what looks like an exceptionally well-assembled ensemble.

The [sitcom](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitcom) genre has been waiting for Levy’s return since *Schitt’s Creek* swept the Emmys in 2020 — and *Big Mistakes* is shaping up to be his most ambitious project yet.
