Football transfers are the most interesting part of the game to the casual fan, and with the year drawing to an end, we decided to look at the best signing of 2020 for each Premier League club.
Arsenal – Gabriel
The Brazilian centre back has been brilliant since joining London and has also opened his scoring account at the club. Thomas Partey could have been the other option, but we’re going with Gabriel considering the impact of the defense.Â
Aston Villa – Ollie Watkins
Despite joining Villa from the Championship, Ollie Watkins has had a dream start to life at Villa Park, scoring a hat-trick against Champions Liverpool in the 7-2 humiliation of the Reds.
Brighton and Hove Albion – Tariq Lamptey
Lamptey always looks to have a spark going forward and is not at all scared to run with the ball. This makes him one of the best right-backs in the league, and also one of the most threatening.Â
Burnley – Josh Brownhill
The only new player who has featured for the Clarets this season, Brownhill has been okay but nothing truly spectacular. The club will be hoping for a better 2021 with their rumoured takeover.
Chelsea – Edouard Mendy
The Senegalese keeper has managed to completely transform Chelsea into a defensively resolute team and is currently the most successful keeper in the league.
Crystal Palace – Eberechi Eze
The youngster is one of Palace’s best players and is amazing with the ball at his feet. A little more experience could see him rise as one of the best playmakers in the league.
Everton – James Rodriguez
Arguably one of the best business deals of the summer, Rodriguez has been stunning since joining Everton and had been vital to the Toffees’ success at this point in the season.
Fulham – Ademola Lookman
The RB Leipzig loanee was the star of Fulham’s recent victory against Leicester City and showed some serious quality in that game, enough to make people who doubted his calibre take notice of his talent.
Leeds United – Illan Meslier
Leeds play some of the best football in the league, but for some reason, do not manage to win most games. Meslier has been splendid between the sticks for the Yorkshire club, and his performance against Everton showed the best of his game.
Leicester City – Wesley Fofana
Despite being a teenager, Fofana has been very impressive for the Foxes this season and is without a doubt a star in the making. He has filled in well for Leicester’s depleted backline this season.
Liverpool – Diogo Jota
The Portuguese has been on absolute fire and is one of the best attackers in the Premier League this season. He has forced his way into the best front three into the world and has managed to make it a front four.
Manchester City – Ruben Dias
The centre back has completely transformed Manchester City’s defense, and his partnership with Aymeric Laporte, as well as a reemerging John Stones makes him a part of an outstanding defensive partnership.
Manchester United – Bruno Fernandes
The playmaker was fully responsible for United’s third-place finish last season. His brilliant form has continued this season and is without a doubt the best player for the Red Devils.Â
Newcastle United – Callum Wilson
While the middle eastern takeover never came, Wilson has been great since joining the Saints. The striker could inspire the club to a top-half finish if he manages to maintain consistency throughout the season.Â
Sheffield United – Sander Berge
Berge has been the silver lining of Sheffield United’s horror 20/21 season. The Blades are yet to win their first game of the new season, but can be happy about the midfielder’s performances in the heart of the park.
Southampton – Kyle Walker-Peters
The former Spurs full back has been a revelation at St Mary’s, with multiple chances to prove himself a reliable defender.
Tottenham Hotspur – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
The former Southampton captain has been the most important player for Jose Mourinho this season, but the stats don’t really back that up. His commanding presence in midfield is one of the main reasons why Spurs are at the top right now.
West Bromwich Albion – Matheus Pereira
Signed for only £9 million, Pereira has been the best player for newly promoted West Brom, but has outgrown his team. Consistent individual performances should see him off to a good European club in the future.
West Ham United – Tomas Soucek
Soucek has been nothing short of a delight at the London stadium, proving to be heavily versatile for the Hammers this season.
Wolves – Daniel Podence
It took a bit of time for him to come through, but Daniel Podence has finally arrived for Wolves. His role at the club becomes even mkre important with the departure of Diogo Jota to Liverpool.
