Samsung Galaxy S23 owners are now fully immersed in the One UI 6 beta, following a couple of initial setbacks. The extensive changes observed in this update surpass last year’s One UI 5, encompassing everything from minor aesthetic adjustments to core functionality. Here’s a list of the best Samsung features with One UI 6.

Best One UI 6 Features

Emojis

One UI 6

Samsung, which was once criticized for having subpar emojis, has undergone a significant improvement in the beta. The fresh emoji design surpasses Google’s, becoming a new favorite with enhanced expressiveness and added depth through new shading. Accompanying this update is a systemwide font revamp.

Weather App Improvements

The Samsung weather app, cherished since its One UI 5 redesign, has addressed a notable issue – intrusive ads. Previously, a “news” section within the app displayed irrelevant weather-related videos. Now, these videos are relegated to the bottom, with only two available and requiring intentional activation, minimizing accidental disruptions. The app has also seen tweaks in icons, fonts, colors, and the introduction of a new widget, “weather insights,” providing current conditions and additional information.

Redesigned Quick Settings

One UI 6 brings changes to the quick settings panel, featuring two oversized Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles at the top, reminiscent of Android 12. The brightness slider now includes shortcuts for the blue light filter and dark mode, with smart view and device control at the bottom. This redesign modernizes the interface while retaining functionality, offering more toggles than competing Pixel phones.

Better Camera Iconography

The camera app’s iconography has undergone positive changes in One UI 6. The photo resolution and aspect ratio options, previously in a single menu, are now separated. Users can set the aspect ratio independently of the resolution, providing greater flexibility. Icons for filters and motion photos have been redesigned for clarity and improved intuitiveness.

Camera Widget

Continuing the trend of impressive widgets introduced since One UI 4, One UI 6 introduces a new camera widget. Users can customize this widget, selecting an image or opting for the last photo taken. Multiple widgets with different settings can be added for quick access to preferred camera configurations, including options for the selfie camera, primary rear sensor, and various modes.
