Bernardo Silva has signed a new contract with Manchester City amidst interest from Barcelona, PSG and Al Nassr over a transfer this summer. The Portugal international’s new contract runs until 2026, and sees him commit his future to Pep Guardiola’s treble winners at a time when several veteran players were on a streak of leaving.

Silva has spent six years with the Sky Blues since his arrival from Monaco. He was first started as a right-winger but has now evolved to play as a central midfielder, in a hybrid role for the Catalonian manager.

“[It’s my] seventh season playing for Man City now. And it’s been a dream in terms of what we achieved, in terms of the prospects of what we can still do,” Bernardo Silva told Manchester City’s official website.

“Six years where we won five Premier Leagues, one Champions League and all the cups.

“I couldn’t have imagined it better, to be honest.

“I am very happy. [It’s] another season where we will try to do as best as possible. And we started well. Let’s keep going that way.

“I’m going for my seventh season at City. To be here until now meant trophies, meant winning a lot. And I like to win. It’s good to win.

“It’s not easy. So to be in a winning team, it’s a very good feeling. And I wanted to keep it that way.”

Silva has scored 55 goals and provided 59 assists across all competitions during his time at the club. His role has evolved far beyond goals and assists on the stats sheet and his presence will be crucial for City as they begin their title defences.
