Bengaluru FC defeated Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in the ISL to take all three points in the mid-table clash. Here are the three key talking points from the game.
Udanta Singh nets double
The 25-year-old scored on either side of half time to give Bengaluru FC a bigger margin of victory. His first goal came after an extremely unselfish Sunil Chhetri passed to the youngster face-to-face with the goalkeeper, as he smashed the ball into a defenseless goal.
His second came after a defensive lapse from the Chennaiyin defense, allowing him to tap into an open goal yet again, to kill off the game. He was named the Hero of the Match as a result.
Not Chennaiyin FC’s day
It was an important game for Chennaiyin FC, as they had the chance to break into the top four with a win against Bengaluru FC. However, a lackluster performance from them saw BFC capitalise and punish them for their errors at the back.
Despite testing the opposition goalkeeper a number of times, they could’ve easily conceded more goals, as a result of their defensive game not being up to the mark.
Bengaluru FC turn their season around
Although having played one extra game, Bengaluru FC are looking back on track this season. They are undefeated in their last seven games, and have completed the league double over Chennaiyin, following their 4-2 win against them last time. They are three points behind the top of the table, and are now looking like challengers for the top four, at the business end of the season.
