Ben Stokes has broken the record for the fastest half-century scored by an England player in test cricket history. While chasing a meagre target of 82 against West Indies, the England skipper opened the run chase and smashed a half-century in 24 balls at Edgbaston.
With Ben Duckett providing support at the other end, Stokes played an incredible knock, and now holds the record for the joint-third-fastest 50 in test cricket history.

Pakistan’s Misbah-ul-Haq holds the record for the fastest 50 in test cricket history, reaching the total in only 21 balls. David Warner is in second place, taking only 23.
Ben Stokes is now tied with South African legend Jacques Kallis, with both taking 24 deliveries to reach 50 runs.
The England skipper led from the front as his side decimated West Indies to earn a 3-0 win in the series. They played brilliantly from the get-go, and were a notch above their opponents throughout the series.
The Three Lions will now take a month’s rest before playing Sri Lanka in another three-test series.
