Atalanta have reached a verbal agreement with Everton to sign Ben Godfrey from Everton. The centre-back will make the move for a sum in excess of €10 million, with the final details set to be sorted out in the coming days.
The player was always keen on making the move to Italy, and is set to finalise personal terms with La Dea over the coming days. The medical tests have been scheduled for this weekend, and his move will be announced once the formalities have been completed.

With only one year remaining on his contract and Everton keen to avoid PSR breaches, the sale made perfect sense for the Toffees. They turned down the Italian club’s opening offer, but have now verbally agreed a deal for the 26-year-old.
Godfrey has been on Everton’s books since 2020, making the move from Norwich City for €27.50 million. Over the last four years, he has made 93 appearances across all competitions, with playing time considerably reduced this past season.
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite were the starting pair for Sean Dyche this past season, with Godfrey playing a very small part. As Giorgio Scalvini could be on the move this summer, Atalanta’s early signing of Ben Godfrey puts them in a good position to negotiate on their terms.
