The BCCI, India’s main cricket regulatory body, is expected to agree to suggestions to increase match fees for the 2017 domestic season. According to sources, players participating in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the 2021-2022 season are set to earn bigger earnings.
According to Dainik Jagran reports, cricketers who have played more than 20 First-Class games are expected to be paid INR 60,000 a day in match fees. Each day, players with less experience will be paid INR 45,0000. Athletes currently earn INR 35,000 per day per match, totalling INR 1.4 lakhs per game, according to the existing payout system.
Domestic players in white-ball games are eligible to get INR 35,000 and INR 17,500 for each match played by Vijay Hazare and Mushtaq Ali, respectively. The reserve players are paid half as much as the starters. A daily allowance of INR 1,000 is also given to the players.
If the much-discussed plan is approved, it will be the first time that Indian cricketers are compensated based on their domestic experience. The Board is investigating the decision to give First-class cricketers their salary from the previous season, which were docked owing to the epidemic.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday that domestic cricket will return to India for the 2021-22 season. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will kick off the men’s season on October 20, while the Ranji Trophy will return after a year apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the BCCI’s media advisory, the season will begin on September 21 with the Senior Women’s One Day League and conclude on October 27 with the Senior Women’s One Day Challenger Trophy. The governing body said in an official statement, “the BCCI is confident of hosting the domestic season with health and safety of players and all people involved being paramount”.
