BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been placed under home quarantine after his elder brother Snehasish Ganguly, CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) secretary tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday.

Snehasish Ganguly has been admitted in Belle Vue hospital in Kolkata while the family members and those who came in contact with him in the last few days have been placed under home quarantine.

A CAB official told PTI: “He was suffering from fever for the last few days and his test report came positive today. He’s been admitted to Belle Vue Hospital.”

Another source close to Sourav Ganguly said: “The reports arrived late in the evening. As per health protocols, even Sourav will have to be in home quarantine for a stipulated period.”

Avishek Dalmiya, chief of Cricket Association of Bengal, is also in home quarantine, as he met Snehasish on Friday during a visit to Eden Gardens. He said on Thursday morning, as per IANS: “Yes, I would be undergoing home quarantine for the next few days as per required protocol.”

He further said that Snehasish has a mild temperature and that he is “alright.” “These are tough times. He admitted himself yesterday night at a city hospital. Other than having mild temperature, he is alright at the moment. I wish him a speedy recovery”.

Recently, during an interview with India Today, Sourav Ganguly spoke about how life around him has changed, making people more vulnerable to the Coronavirus. Ganguly said: “My brother visits our factories every day and he is more at risk”.

The current situation in India is quite threatening. On Wednesday, India reported around 32,000 positive cases of COVID-19. The total cases of the country now stand at around 9,70,000 cases.
