Virat Kohli recently stepped down as skipper from Test format. The BCCI will be naming Rohit Sharma as India’s new Test Captain. The official announcement is to be taken after the tour of South Africa.

A BCCI official recently said “All the confusion, question in regard to India’s New Test Captain can be laid to rest. The BCCI is set to name Rohit Sharma as India’s New TEST Captain. The BCCI will make official announcement right after to the tour of South Africa.”

Rohit Sharma as the new Test captain

As per reports, the selectors will speak to Rohit Sharma on his workload and workload and fitness related issues.

“The workload will be immense. He need to keep himself very agile and fit. I think the selectors will have a word with him. He will have to work to extra-bit on his fitness”

The home test series against Sri Lanka will have the first one where Rohit’s captaincy will be evaluated. On the other hand, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are going to groom for the next leaders. The debate here isn’t about who is going to be the captain rather it’s about the selection of the vice-captain.

The other issues that the Indian team is facing

The big decision for the selection committee is on the issues regarding India’s Middle order. The selectors need to take some bold decisions of two test match series vs Sri Lanka.

The selectors will move on from Pujara, Rahane to Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari and Shubman Gill for the middle-order line-up.

The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly declared that Virat Kohli is a batter for the team and an important part of the Indian cricket squad.
