Recent reports have suggested that Bayern Munich could sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona on a loan deal with the option to buy. The Dutchman has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, but has refused to join them despite the two clubs having an agreement.
De Jong is owed €20 million in deferred wages by Barcelona, and this has led to him refusing to leave. He is also refusing to take a pay cut to continue at the club, which has made it very difficult for the Spanish side to register new players, and in particular, Jules Kounde.
Frenkie de Jong to join Bayern?
A transfer to Bayern on a loan like Philippe Coutinho would reunite De Jong and De Ligt, who were teammates at Ajax. But according to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich are not interested in signing the midfielder at this stage.
They are content with Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in the heart of the park, with Jamal Musiala in amazing form as well. As a result, it seems unlikely that they will be requiring Frenkie de Jong alongside all the options that they have.
Manchester United are still interested in signing de Jong before the end of the transfer window. They have already recruited Casemiro, and could potentially wrap up the deal for the Barcelona man in the last week of the window.
