Bayern Munich suffered a 3-2 defeat against Heidenheim in their latest Bundesliga outing. The Bavarians choked on a 2-0 lead, and let the Bundesliga newcomers score three goals in the second half to take all three points.

This is the first time that a newly promoted Bundesliga team has won against Bayern Munich since 2000. Currently 10th, Heidenheim’s victory marks a new low for the Bavarians this season, in light of Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible run. Xabi Alonso’s side continued their undefeated streak with a 1-0 win over Union Berlin.

Bayer Leverkusen just need one more win to seal their title, and will be expected to do so when they play Werder Bremen next weekend.

To make things even more grim for Bayern Munich, this is the first time they have lost more than five games in the season since 2011/12. It shows the incredible standards they have set for themselves over the last decade. In addition, it also marks a significant decline and the need for a restructuring of the club.

Harry Kane scored his 32nd Bundesliga goal of the season in the defeat against Heidenheim, leading the top scorer race by eight goals. But, it seems unlikely that he will be winning any silverware this season unless Bayern can find a way to win the Champions League.
