Barcelona are interested in signing Arthur Cabral from Swiss club Basel. New manager Xavi is reportedly looking for attacking options with the likes of Ansu Fati and Martin Braithwaite currently out injured.

Cabral is in pole position to sign the contract and make the switch. He is in discussions with Barcelona’s CEO Mateu Alemany about a potential switch. But, Barcelona’s financial situation could prevent them from making the signing when the winter transfer window opens.

The 23-year-old has been in superb form in Switzerland so far this season. He has scored 24 goals and provided 8 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season. The player joined Basel from Brazilian club Palmeiras in 2019, and has since been one of the key players for the club.

While Barcelona are in over a billion Euros worth of debt, they are optimistic that they can find a way to sign Arthur Cabral. Philippe Coutinho is one of the players that could end up leaving the club in the winter transfer window.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing him, and the 29-year-old is not getting play time ahead of youngsters Nico and Gavi. While he has said that he isn’t going to move away, a sale would boost Barca’s chances of signing an attacking reinforcement.

Xavi wants the youngster at Barcelona and believes that he will be a valuable addition to the team. All that’s left now, is to find a way to reach a financial agreement with Basel regarding the transfer.
