Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, actors of Zindagi Gulzar Hai, are poised to reconnect in Asim Abbasi’s spooky romance. The teaser released on Monday provides a glimpse into the bigger story, in which Fawad and Sanam play important parts.
Barzakh: Plot
Asim Abbasi, known for Churails and Cake, helmed the highly anticipated show produced by Shailja Kejriwal and Waqas Hassan. Barzakh, which translates to ‘obstacle’ or ‘purgatory’, is set in Pakistan’s scenic Hunza Valley. According to the creators, the six-episode series delves into subjects such as mental health, postpartum depression, generational trauma, and gender inclusion.

The series recounts the moving story of a 76-year-old recluse man who invites his estranged children and grandkids to his isolated valley resort to commemorate an astonishing and unusual event: his wedding with the ghost of his first true love. “This emotionally profound narrative makes viewers think about life’s mysteries, what happens after death, and the deep feeling of love that ties us together,” according to its publisher’s description.
The trailer depicts Fawad going up the hills to a strange location called ‘Land of Nowhere.’ Fawad then runs into Sanam on the property and asks her, “So you’re still running the circus around here?,” as if he knows her from somewhere. She responds, “Who else will?” The rest of the trailer contains clues of otherworldly events as the wedding approaches.
When a child asks Fawad why no one is stopping his grandfather from marrying a ghost, he responds that it is because of ‘fear.’ While Fawad believes that his father is making the wrong decision by believing that he would marry a ghost, Sanam refers to it as the power of love and urges Fawad to be happy for his father.
Barzakh Release Date
Salman Shahid, M Fawad Khan, Eman Suleman, Khushhal Khan, Faiza Gillani, Anika Zulfikar, and Franco Giusti are among the cast members of Barzakh. It will be released every Monday and Friday at 8 p.m. on Zindagi’s official YouTube channel and ZEE 5.
