Barcelona are working to extend the contracts of a number of young talents in due course. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is in talks with Ousmane Dembele, Ronald Araujo and Gavi to extend their deals within the next few months.

The contract of Dembele will no doubt be the most pressing issue of the trio. The Frenchman is the most valuable of them, and his contract expires next summer. If the club does not manage to tie him down soon, he will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs in January and move away in the summer for free.

The 24-year-old has had to battle a number of recurring injuries during his time at Camp Nou. However, he has been backed to go on to become a world-class player in the future. “Dembélé is an exceptional player who needs to understand that he is Barça and to believe that he is a great player, he can do many great things here,” Dani Alves said in his official presentation.

Barcelona’s New Academy Star

The Blaugrana board has also been in talks to renew the contract of talented youngster Gavi. The teenager was selected for the Spanish national team during the recent international break and has made a huge impact in recent weeks.

The agreement with him is very close, and it is only a matter of time before the academy graduate extends his stay.

Ronald Araujo, similarly, has his deal expiring in 2023 and is in talks with Barcelona to renew his contract. No agreement has been reached yet, but things are looking positive between the two parties about a renewed contract for the centre-back.
