The first El Clasico of the new season is all set to be played out on October 28, with Barcelona vs Real Madrid to kick off at 19:45 IST in a potential six-pointer. Barcelona have been struggling with injuries, but could welcome back several first team regulars for the game.
Robert Lewandowski spent a few games on the sidelines alongside midfielder Frenkie De Jong, as well as Pedri, Raphinha and Sergi Roberto. And in the pre-match press conference, Xavi Hernandez has remained tight-lipped as to whether the players will start or not.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid preview: Injuries to play a key part
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Jude Bellingham will start the game for Los Blancos after a minor injury scare in their midweek UCL game against Braga. The Englishman has had a sensational start to life in Spain, and will be expected to play a key role in his first El Clasico as well.
Xavi, however, has not guaranteed whether their injured players will return to the starting line-up. Joao Felix is expected to play after a minor strain, while Lewandowski and De Jong might also return in time.
Pedri has almost been ruled out of the game even though he trained on Friday, with further assessment to determine his availability. Xavi could also play Ronald Araujo at right-back like he has in the past to neutralise Vinicius Jr on the left wing. But, with Joao Cancelo regularly starting at right-back, the manager will have some key decisions to make going into the game.
Real Madrid head into the game as the league leaders, only one point ahead of Barcelona. They could remain there with a bigger lead if they win, or see their rivals climb to the top if they are defeated at the Olympic Stadium.
