Barcelona have announced a special jersey for El Clasico against Real Madrid this Sunday. The Catalonian side have partnered up with Spotify as their main jersey sponsor for the coming years.
And this Sunday, they will feature a Drake’s OVO Sound label on the front of their jersey against their rivals. This is in celebration of Drake achieving 50 billion streams on Spotify alone.
Barcelona announce unique jersey update for El Clasico
“By including Drake’s logo on the front of the jersey, Barcelona and Spotify aim to celebrate the singer’s milestone of becoming the first artist to achieve 50 billion streams of his songs on the platform,” read the club’s official website.
The announcement was also made by the Canadian rapper on his Instagram website, making him the first artist to be featured on Barcelona’s kit. Spotify had announced that artists would occasionally feature on the club’s shirt. And over the course of their deal, more could make it to the jersey.
Drake is an avid sports fan. Having grown up in Toronto, he has publicly supported NBA team Toronto Raptors especially when they won the title in 2019. However, fans have also become aware of a ‘curse’ that follows whichever team that the rapper supports.
Barcelona fans will be hoping that the curse doesn’t follow them next, as they face their biggest rivals to take the lead in the La Liga table.
