Barcelona’s summer of surprises isn’t done yet. The Catalan giants have agreed a €10 million deal plus add-ons to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, with the Brazilian striker set for a medical on Monday after Barça’s long pursuit of Julián Álvarez finally stalled.

## The Deal in Detail

Arsenal have given Jesus permission to travel to Spain to finalise his medical, ahead of signing a two-year contract with the option to extend by a further season. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement with his trademark “here we go,” noting the fee represents a steep discount on the €52 million Arsenal originally paid Manchester City for Jesus back in 2022.

## Why Arsenal Let Him Go

Jesus had fallen behind Viktor Gyökeres and Kai Havertz in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order, managing just three Premier League starts last season after a serious knee injury. With one year left on his contract, Arsenal were motivated to move him on, freeing up wage space as they continue chasing Julián Álvarez before the deadline.

## What’s Next for Both Clubs

For Barcelona, Jesus fills an urgent need up front following Lewandowski’s exit, while Arsenal’s sale opens the door for a potential marquee striker arrival of their own. Fans can follow official confirmation via the [FC Barcelona official website](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/).
