Barcelona faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals. Bayern were the favourites but you can’t write off a team which has Messi in its rank at any moment.

But sadly, Barcelona has hit the bottom and not even Messi could save them from the humiliation. Bayern kept on scoring goals for fun. The scoreline 8-2 tells exactly how bad Barcelona has become in recent times.

Barcelona appointed Quique Setien in the middle of this season, but he has failed to take charge at Camp Nou. It seems he can’t handle the star-studded dressing room. He also doesn’t seem to have any plan B if something doesn’t quite work.

As Barcelona was taken to the cleaners by Bayern, Setien stood helplessly in the dugout. Dembele was being prepared for this Champions League tie but Setien didn’t give him a single minute. He seems to have lost control or never have gained control over this job.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now tweeted: “Barcelona have already decided to sack Quique Setién after the terrible defeat against Bayern Münich. He’ll not be the manager on next season.”

Quique Setien’s time at the Camp Nou is up. He is set to be sacked and the official announcement would come in the coming days.

Former Barcelona player Xavi is touted as the rightful heir to the throne. He will be given the first opportunity for this job but if he declines to join the Blaugranas then former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be appointed as the next manager.

RAC1 claims Pochettino is top of the list to takeover after having dinner with club president Josep Bartomeu earlier this week.

Pochettino is a former Espanyol player and manager so that rivalry kept him from taking up this job earlier but it seems if he is offered the job now, he won’t refuse anymore.
