Barcelona have fallen behind in the race for Leeds United winger Raphinha, with Premier League clubs now ahead in the race for the player.
The La Liga side have been hit with several financial restrictions this summer, and have a very limited budget to work with. They were hoping that the €25 million release clause for the Brazilian would be valid in case Leeds were relegated. But, they ended up surviving in the top flight and now, the Yorkshire club can demand any transfer fee that they see fit. The price tag that they have set is around €65 million.
Raphinha’s transfer to Barcelona now unlikely
Barcelona had agreed personal terms with the Brazilian over a five-year deal, and were hopeful of reaching an agreement with Leeds as well if the asking price was lower. But due to their situation right now, they cannot pay the amount that Leeds are demanding.
It was expected that Raphinha would be the replacement for Ousmane Dembele, as the Frenchman is very close to leaving Barcelona as a free agent. But it now seems like the Catalonians will have to look elsewhere to sign a replacement.
Arsenal are leading the race for Raphinha, and are in direct talks with Leeds United for the winger. Chelsea and Tottenham are also interested but are not in talks with the club for a transfer just yet.
