Barcelona could have to let go of free signings Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie if they are not registered by Saturday. The Blaugrana start their 22/23 season against Rayo Vallecano this weekend, and the two players have still not been registered as of yet.
There is a clause in both of their deals that allows them to leave for free in case they are not registered prior to the start of the season. They have not been able to register Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde or the contract renewal of Ousmane Dembele either.
Barcelona in yet another transfer crisis as new free signings could leave
Despite the current situation, Barcelona remain calm that they will be able to register all of their signings ahead of the new season. The players are not panicking either, and don’t want to join any other club as of yet.
It has been a trend for Barcelona to register their new players only a day before kickoff, and this year could see the same pattern followed. But even after the activation of four levers, things don’t look very good financially.
The club will still need to sell some players and raise funds in order to register their new signings with La Liga. So, it remains to be seen whether the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong leave the club in the coming days.
