Barcelona are having to renegotiate the contracts of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, both of whom are expected to join the Spanish side as free agents. However, nothing has been communicated from the club just yet.
With June ending, the two players are free agents, upon the expiry of their contracts. And now, they have their sights set on a move to Barcelona based on their previous agreement, which will seemingly be honoured.
Barcelona renegotiating contracts with free agents
Andreas Christensen has said goodbye to Chelsea and their fans, while Franck Kessie is also on his way out of AC Milan. But, the official announcement from Barca will have to wait since they cannot be registered in the current circumstances.
The two players will probably have to take a salary cut, much like other players in the squad have taken in the past. This is because of Barcelona’s financial constraints owing to La Liga financial fair play rules. They have activated their first economic lever, selling 10% of their TV rights for the next 25 years yesterday.
But despite this, they are facing difficulties in registering the new players on their books. The lack of outgoings is not helping their case on the economic front either. They have plans to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, who has issued a public transfer request and wants only the Catalonian side. But as things stand, it is not possible for Barcelona to sign and register all their targets as of yet.
