Barcelona are working with Ousmane Dembele to find a way to extend his contract. The Frenchman’s deal runs out in a month, when he will be able to leave the club as a free agent.
In January, the board were convinced that he was going to leave as he refused their terms for a renewal. As a result, they publicly stated that he would be frozen out of the team. But since then, he has been reintegrated into the first team under Xavi. And now, he is the player with the most assists in La Liga despite missing almost half the season.
Positive talks held for Ousmane Dembele’s contract extension
Barcelona have held a meeting with Moussa Sissoko, the player’s agent, and are willing to continue working together to find a solution. Due to their financial problems, they cannot offer him a massive offer. But, they are willing to compromise and find a solution that is mutually acceptable.
The deal hasn’t been finalised yet, and is not close to being done yet. However, both the parties have positive feelings from their initial talks.
A new meeting will be held very soon to discuss the new contract further as the end of the season is approaching soon. Several top clubs are monitoring Ousmane Dembele’s situation in case he fails to renew his deal with Barcelona. They would be able to land a huge talent for no transfer fee if he is available on the market.
