Barcelona could pursue Joao Felix if Atletico Madrid fail to achieve top 4 finish

Barcelona could be looking to do business with Atletico Madrid for their star number 7 again. Only this time, it is Joao Felix in question. The Portugal international’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is expected to push for a move in the summer if Atletico fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Rojiblancos are currently a point clear of Real Betis, and are in fourth place. As a result, they will be hopeful of qualifying for the top flight of Europe next season. But, Barca are keeping an eye on them in case they fail to achieve a top four finish, according to SPORT.

The Blaugrana have been linked with several top forwards in the last few weeks. The likes of Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and Robert Lewandowski have all been rumoured to be targets for the club.

But, with Joan Laporta ruling out big money transfers for the summer, the signing of Haaland and Salah can be safely written off. Lewandowski’s situation is still unclear, but reports of him getting closer to a move to Barca are increasing.

The last time Barcelona did business with Atletico Madrid for their star forward, Antoine Griezmann made the switch. The player failed to replicate his form for the Rojiblancos at Camp Nou, and had to be re-signed by Atleti.

Joao Felix is slowly hitting his best form for Diego Simeone’s side, and could finally grow into his role if he can be consistent. But, an option to move to Barcelona if things don’t work out now seems to be an option.
