Barcelona have agreed to take the CVC deal months after original rejection

As Madrid teams drop points, is this the Golden chance for Barcelona to win LaLiga?

Barcelona could yet accept the CVC deal offered to them, months after turning away from it. Joan Laporta had first agreed to the deal but decided to reject it after talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

What was the original CVC deal that Barcelona rejected?

The original deal offered was to sign away 10% of the profits for 50 years, for all the teams, in exchange for a huge profit upfront. A week ago, the La Liga CVC deal was revived with renewed terms, and this time the clubs agreed to take it. Segunda division clubs were also part of the decision, with all clubs apart from UD Ibiza taking the deal.

Barcelona are reportedly in talks with Goldman Sachs and the CVC investment fund that could see the Blaugrana receive a big financial boost ahead of the winter transfer window.

❗Barcelona are getting closer and closer to reaching an agreement with CVC Funds.

• Goldman Sachs has intervened as they maintain a good relationship with both Barça and CVC.

• The economic injection will allow Barça to make signings in January.

What is Barcelona’s financial position?

The club is still in a very difficult financial position, and despite rumours surrounding Ferran Torres, their ability to sign players soon is limited. The likes of Marc Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie De Jong and Sergino Dest have been out on the transfer list due to their difficult financial position.

Barcelona have dropped down to the Europa League, and are struggling in La Liga as well. This will strongly hinder their ability to sign players in the future, and operate properly.

In hindsight, had the deal been agreed in the summer, Barcelona could have been able to keep Lionel Messi. Although the tradeoff would be for them to sign off on a percentage of their profits for the long-term.
