Ilkay Gundogan and Ronald Araujo were at odds about the red card incident from Barcelona’s quarter final defeat against PSG in the Champions League. The Uruguayan centre-back was sent off for a last man challenge on Bradley Barcola in the first half, leaving the hosts a man light.
PSG went on to win the game 4-1 and complete their comeback from 3-2 down in the first leg. Gundogan, after the match, suggested that he would have given the keeper a chance in such a situation or concede a goal rather than risk a red card.

Ronald Araujo apologised to the fans after the game and thanked them for their support in spite of his red card.
“I prefer to keep to myself what I think about Gundogan’s statements. I have codes and values that have to be respected,” the 25-year-old insisted at the mentioned event in Barcelona.
Xavi reportedly cancelled a training session after the PSG game, with the dressing room divide cited as the main reason. The team is in a very crucial part of the season right now, with a victory against Madrid enough to set up a title race between the two Clasico rivals again.
However, Barcelona will have to move on from the defeat in midweek if they are to challenge the league leaders in the big game this weekend.
