According to Matteo Moretto of Calciomercato, Barcelona are interested in a swap deal involving Saul and Antoine Griezmann.
Both teams are open to getting their respective players of the books, and could benefit from a deal of such nature. With Antoine Griezmann being a former Atletico Madrid player, and the president of the club did not rule out trying to bring Griezmann back to the club.
The player has struggled to reach the heights he once showed under Diego Simeone at Atletico, and despite moving for a big fee, he has not been able to generate a remarkable return on his performances like he did in red and white. And given Barcelona’s current financial situation, they could use the freed up wages and a quality replacement.
Saul, on the other hand, has attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United. Having numerous years left on his current deal, it won’t be cheap to sign the player. However, a direct swap deal could allow the players to swap sides and reach desirable results.
Barcelona have already signed Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Emerson Royal but will have to make room for the player’s wages on their books to officially register them. Even though it is possible that Barcelona will try to engage in a swap deal, signing another player with a high wage will be difficult for them.
