Barcelona are currently in a dire financial crisis and owe about €488 million, double that of 2019. Furthermore, Barcelona will be unable to pay the salaries of their players in January. The club were recently on the verge of bankruptcy, but have since managed to turn their fate around.

The Catalonian’s financial burdens could be further eased if Amazon goes forth with their plans for investment in the club. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are currently looking for alternative revenue streams and will be looking to incorporate Jeff Bezos’ world-famous brand as partners.

While Amazon will most certainly help the club out with the monetary side of things, they could be offered control of the advertising and selling of merchandise for the club in exchange.

Right now, though, the wait lies for a new Barcelona President to take the reigns at Barcelona. January 24th is the date that the votes will be conducted for the club.

The decision must go through Barcelona’s General Committee before becoming official. Hence, there is still some time for the partnership to fully materialise.

While there are still 3-4 companies in the mix, the official auctions are yet to be formalised. Mundo Deportivo have indicated that Amazon, through their various platforms, including Prime Video, could prepare video content for fans to enjoy.

Documentaries of the things going on behind the scenes at the club, especially at such a tumultuous time, could go on to generate a great amount of revenue for the club in addition to the sponsorship money in the form of royalties. This could further supplement Barcelona’s income and help them out with their huge debts.

Barcelona have tons of problems to deal with right now, and solving even the financial aspect of it could go a long way in increasing morale for not only the fans but also the players.
