Barcelona have won the 2023 Supercopa de Espana, beating Real Madrid 3-1 in the finals. Xavi Hernandez’s men completely outplayed their rivals, who were a shadow of themselves in the finals. Midfield sensation Gavi was all over the pitch, and was the key player for the Blaugranas to help them get over the line.

The youngster opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, after Real Madrid failed to play out from the back. Robert Lewandowski set up the youngster perfectly to slot the ball past Thibaut Courtois before being assisted by Gavi himself from the left flank.

Pedri and Gavi combined for the third goal, which was also the result of a mistake from Real Madrid. Lewandowski pounced on another misplayed pass to Eder Militao, and played in Gavi. His fellow La Masia graduate was at the right place to tap in the ball and make it 3-0 in favour of the Catalonian club.

Karim Benzema was able to continue his scoring run in the Supercopa de Espana with a late goal. But, it was too little too late for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. It was really not their day, with things going wrong almost from the very beginning.

Barcelona were barely troubled for the most part of the game, and were on another level during the 90. They have, as a result, regained the Supercopa de Espana for the first time since 2018, and have dethroned their biggest rivals to win.
