Barcelona’s 15-game La Liga unbeaten run snapped against Cadiz last night. Lucas Perez scored the only goal of the game shortly after the second half began, and the away side were able to hold on to the 1-goal lead until the end of the game to take all three points.
Xavi’s men had most of the possession throughout the game, and had three times the number of shots that Cadiz did. But, they were unable to make anything out of the chances that they had.
Barcelona’s top four hopes suffer fresh blow after loss to Cadiz
About 5,000 Barcelona fans of the singing section abandoned the match because of the happenings in midweek. Close to 20,000 Eintracht Frankfurt fans were able to get seats in Camp Nou, and were able to cheer their team on to a win against Barcelona to knock them out of the Europa League.
Xavi’s men registered a very disappointing first 45 minutes, with Ousmane Dembele emerging as the only bright spot. However, the Frenchman was not able to notch another assist or a second La Liga goal this season due to his lack of end product.
With the loss, Barcelona showed that they have a lot of work to do to become title contenders next season. With the win, Cadiz earned their first-ever victory against Barcelona at Camp Nou. On the other hand, Xavi is heading into his first mini-crisis as manager of his team with the consecutive losses against Frankfurt and Cadiz.
