Barca’s summer transfer window has seen them get rid of a lot of their older players. However, transfer deadline day is upon us and is set to bring good news to the fans of Barcelona.
Barca’s transfer target of the summer, Memphis Depay is all set to join the Blaugrana, and the deal will be completed in the next few hours.
Ronald Koeman knows Depay from their days together in the Dutch national team. The new manager certainly had a significant role to play in convincing the player to come to Spain.
With the loss of star striker Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona desperately need Depay to ensure a good performance in the long season ahead.
The Dutch forward has impressed at Lyon and almost made his disappointing spell at Manchester United seem like a million years away.
Personal terms had been agreed between the player and Barcelona about 20 days ago. The Catalonian club is set to submit a bid for a sum of €25 million pounds upfront, with add-ons raising the sum a little more.
While the transfer had been heavily rumored throughout the summer, Lyon President Juninho has now seemingly confirmed that Depay will leave the club before the transfer window closes today.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Lyon Director said that the player “is most likely to go” after confirming that personal terms had been agreed between the two parties and that there were talks with Barcelona.
The statement is ironic considering Lyon suggested that Houssem Aouar and Memphis were both set to remain with the club for the 20/21 season. However, the latest developments have proved that Lyon’s stance is not rock-solid.
Memphis will be signing a 5 year deal with Barcelona which will see his contract run through 2025 as he reunites with his former international manager.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona must sell before they buy. Ousmane Dembele is rumoured to be on his way out of the club with Manchester United reported be the interested party. Barcelona will accept 60 million euros for the French forward.
While the deal is still on, it is unclear as to whether Manchester United will go for a loan deal or sign him permanently.
