The nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’or award have been declared. The 30 players will now be voted on for this year’s award. The winner will be declared at the Ballon d’or ceremony on October 28, 2024.
This year’s award is special because neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi have been nominated for the award for the first time since 2003.

Lamine Yamal has been nominated not only for the Ballon d’or but also the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the best player under 21. Similarly, Emiliano Martinez is the only goalkeeper among the 30 players, having been nominated for the Yachine Trophy as well.
With both Messi and Ronaldo out of the running, it will be interesting to see who wins the award this time around. Jude Bellingham has a strong claim to the award, but Rodri or Vinicius Jr could also be voted the best player for the 23-24 season.
