Ballon d’Or 2023 rankings revealed

Ballon d’Or is awarded by the French outlet France Football to the best individual player in the preceding year. It is considered the highest individual honour in the world of football.

There have been many greats who have been awarded the Ballon d’Or. However, during the early days, the award was only given to European players, due to which Pele and Maradona were denied the award despite being the best players of their time. Now it is given to the best player regardless of his country.

Lionel Messi is expected to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or, extending his record for the most Ballon d’Or awards to eight. The Argentine led his country to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title in 2022/23 before moving on to the MLS, joining Inter Miami.

The forward helped them win their first piece of silverware in the Leagues Cup within his first few games and is now set to be rewarded with the Golden Ball once again. The decision will soon be official at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where a number of other awards will also be given to coaches, teams and players.

The Ballon d’Or 2023 award ceremony will take place at 1:30 AM IST on 31st October 2023. However, before the official ceremony, the Ballon d’Or 2023 rankings are being revealed. Let’s check them out:
