## Not Bahubali 3, But Something Extraordinary

During a special promotional event for *Baahubali: The Epic* re-release, SS Rajamouli dropped the bombshell announcement that left Prabhas and Rana Daggubati stunned. While addressing speculation about **Bahubali 3**, he clarified: “It’s not Baahubali 3, but it’s a continuation of the world of Baahubali through high-end 3D animation.”

The animated feature, titled *Baahubali: The Eternal War*, represents a bold new direction for the franchise that redefined Indian cinema. With a staggering budget of ₹120 crore—nearly matching the first *Baahubali* film’s production cost—this project promises Hollywood-level animation quality.

## Why Animation for Bahubali 3’s Universe?

The decision to explore animation makes strategic sense. Prabhas is currently committed to multiple projects over the next two years, while other cast members have varied schedules. Rather than waiting indefinitely, producer Shobu Yarlagadda partnered with talented animation director Ishan Shukla to take the Mahishmati saga in an innovative direction.

Rajamouli revealed that the team has been working on this project for over two and a half years, ensuring every frame meets the franchise’s legendary standards. The film reportedly uses the same studio behind the globally acclaimed animated series *Arcane*, promising breathtaking visuals that transcend live-action boundaries.

## Prabhas’s Hilarious Reaction

When Rajamouli revealed the ₹120 crore budget, Prabhas couldn’t contain his surprise. The superstar joked, “Rs 120 crore? That was our first part’s budget!” His reaction perfectly captured the massive scale of this animated venture, which matches the ambition of the original films that collected $370 million globally.

The teaser, which leaked online shortly before its official release, has already sent social media into a frenzy with fans comparing the animation quality to Marvel productions.

## What About the Live-Action Bahubali 3?

Fans wondering about **Bahubali 3** as a traditional sequel can rest assured—Rajamouli confirmed it’s happening. “Baahubali 3, the ultimate thing is there,” he stated during the event. However, the animated film serves as an exciting bridge, keeping the franchise alive while scheduling challenges for a live-action production are resolved.

Reports suggest the live-action **Bahubali 3** is being developed with a script by Vijayendra Prasad, Rajamouli’s longtime collaborator. Rumors hint at Priyanka Chopra potentially joining the cast, though nothing is officially confirmed yet.

## Baahubali: The Epic Re-Release

The teaser for *Baahubali: The Eternal War* will premiere during the interval of *Baahubali: The Epic*, which releases October 31, 2025. This special re-release combines both *Baahubali: The Beginning* and *Baahubali 2: The Conclusion* into one seamless 3-hour-44-minute cinematic experience with remastered visuals and sound.

Advance bookings have already soared, proving the franchise’s enduring popularity a decade after the first film’s release. Fans can watch the theatrical re-release exclusively in cinemas before streaming becomes available on platforms like [Amazon Prime Video](https://www.primevideo.com/), where previous *Baahubali* content exists.

## The Legacy Continues

Since 2015, the *Baahubali* franchise has been nothing short of revolutionary. *Baahubali 2: The Conclusion* remains the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time. The saga has spawned five seasons of animated series *Baahubali: The Lost Legends*, proving the universe’s potential beyond live-action.

This latest announcement solidifies SS Rajamouli’s reputation as a visionary filmmaker unafraid to experiment. After conquering global audiences with the Oscar-winning *RRR*, he’s currently filming a globe-trotting adventure with Mahesh Babu while simultaneously expanding the *Baahubali* legacy.

## Fan Reactions Go Viral

Social media erupted after teaser clips leaked online. Fans praised the “Hollywood-level” animation quality, with many comparing visuals to Marvel’s *What If…?* series. Twitter users called it a “game-changer” for Indian animated cinema, while others expressed excitement about seeing Prabhas’s iconic character in a new format.

The project represents Indian cinema’s growing confidence in high-budget animated features, following the success of films like *Mahavatar Narasimha*.

## The Bottom Line

While **Bahubali 3** as a live-action sequel will eventually arrive, *Baahubali: The Eternal War* proves the Mahishmati universe is far from finished. With ₹120 crore backing cutting-edge animation, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani’s involvement likely, and Rajamouli’s creative genius guiding the vision, this animated epic could redefine what’s possible in Indian cinema.

Mark your calendars for October 31 when the teaser drops with *Baahubali: The Epic*. Whether you’re team animation or waiting for the live-action **Bahubali 3**, one thing is certain—the legend of Mahishmati continues to captivate millions worldwide.
