Bae In Hyuk and Kang Mina Are About to Be K-Drama’s Most Distrustful in Protect Me — and Most Irresistible — Duo

The K-drama world just got a very exciting casting update. Former Gugudan member and actress Kang Mina is in talks to join Bae In Hyuk in the upcoming office rom-com “Protect Me” — and honestly, this pairing sounds like everything we didn’t know we needed.

What We Know So Far on Protect Me?

The Plot That Has Everyone Talking

“Protect Me” is a webtoon-based office romance that centers on two deeply distrustful people forced into each other’s orbit. Kang Mina’s character — a former national team detective who doesn’t even trust herself — goes undercover as secretary to a third-generation chaebol heir who trusts absolutely no one. What starts as mutual suspicion slowly transforms into something far more tender, as the two end up protecting and saving each other.

If that premise doesn’t already have you hooked, think about the dynamic: a sharp, action-ready detective playing the role of a polished secretary to a cold, guarded heir. The tension practically writes itself.

Why This Casting Is Such a Big Deal

Bae In Hyuk has been quietly building one of the most impressive drama resumes in his generation — fans of Kiss Goblin and Our Universe already know his effortless charm. Kang Mina, meanwhile, has been steadily stepping into more complex roles since her idol days with Gugudan.

Together, they bring exactly the kind of push-pull energy that makes office rom-coms so addictive. A detective pretending to be a secretary? A chaebol who can’t let his guard down? This has slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers written all over it.
