Anurag Kashyap is back with a ground-breaking mystery thriller series that consumes blood-warming sentences. The filmmaker have confirmed the official release date of the incredible cop drama show. Hours later, the teaser for Nithilan Swaminathan’s vengeance saga Maharaja premiered, starring the filmmaker in a minor role alongside Vijay Sethupathi. The teaser for another project with Anurag as the ‘bad guy‘ has been released.

Bad Cop : Plot

On Friday, Disney+ Hotstar teased their latest Hotstar Specials murder thriller series, Bad Cop. Anurag is depicted in the trailer as a mobster with a gun, smoking, and dancing with a wicked expression. Following Dahaad and Duranga, Gulshan Devaiah returns as a cop. His name is Karan, but he appears to have two personas, with his darker side known as Arjun, a reference to Rakesh Roshan’s 1995 blockbuster reincarnation narrative Karan Arjun, starring Shah Rukh Khan as Karan and Salman Khan as Arjun.

Bad Cop, directed by Aditya Datt and scripted by Rensil D’Silva, stars Anurag Kashyap as Kazbe, the quirky, charming, and lethal villain, and Gulshan Devaiah as Karan, a fearsome and courageous cop. Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Aishwarya Sushmita all play important roles in the series.

Anurag and Gulshan have a long relationship, with the latter making his directorial debut in the former’s 2010 film The Girl In Yellow Boots, which also starred Anurag’s ex-wife, Kalki Koechlin, who introduced him to Gulshan.

Anurag has previously played the role of the ‘bad guy’ on screen. Before Bad Cop and Maharaja, he played the villain in Sonakshi Sinha’s 2016 action film Akira, Nayanthara’s 2018 Tamil action thriller Imaikka Nodigal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ZEE5 crime drama Haddi last year. Following Nawazuddin, Anurag will face off against Gulshan, another talent he introduced to Hindi cinema.

Bad Cop is directed by Aditya Datt, who previously collaborated with Gulshan on the 2019 action film Commando 3. Harleen Sethi, who last appeared in Sudip Sharma’s slow-burn thriller Kohrra on Netflix India last year, also stars in the series.

In addition to Bad Cop, Gulshan will appear in Ulajh. Meanwhile, Anurag is set to make his directorial debut with Kennedy, starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat.

Bad Cop OTT Release Date

Bad Cop will start to stream on June 21, 2024 only on Disney + Hotstar.
