The 25-year-old was tied for the most goals scored in the Eredivisie this past season with Luuk de Jong, who had also scored 29 goals in 34 games. However, the PSV Eindhoven striker had also provided an eye-catching 15 assists, while Pavlidis provided four.
Pavlidis has also represented the Greek national team, earning 38 caps and scoring six goals. As a result, he could prove to be a great signing for Benfica, as he is coming into his prime years and already has a proven track record.
Benfica now have their replacement for Arthur Cabral, who is set to leave the club, and also have competitions for Marcos Leonardo, who only joined the club in the winter from Santosh, but is relatively inexperienced in Europe.
Which other clubs were interested in signing Vangelis Pavlidis?
Stuttgart, and several Italian clubs.
